My old LSE buddy Matt Mulford has posted a great vimeo of a talk he gave about making an effective presentation. The target audience is business students, but there is lots of good advice that is applicable to all sorts of academic and non-academic presentations. Definitely worth looking at.  Matt is a superb communicator and  when we taught together he regularly topped the polls of student evaluations (I daren't reveal where I came). It's a privilege to  hear  him talk about what he has learned from long experience and have him reveal some of the tricks of the trade.
